Foil Film Foil Laminates

Typical Applications

Shielding of multi-pair process control, computer, and instrumentation cables as well as coaxial CATV and LAN cables.

Construction

Foil/film/foil shielding tapes are constructed of one polyester, polyethylene, or polypropylene film laminated between two aluminum or copper foil layers.
General Features/Benefits

Enhanced shielding
Improved durability
Foil-to-foil contact at overlap
Selecting the product that's right for you:
  • HIGH-DRAW foil/film/foil laminates offer exceptional draw characteristics and resilient shielding

Films
  • Polyester film has a higher temperature resistance than polypropylene and is therefore often selected for use directly under an extruded jacket.
  • Polypropylene film laminates are more flexible and offer greater economy due to their high yield
  • Polyethylene film offers chemical resistance and economy
  • Thicker film substrates provide higher dielectric and tensile strengths

Foils
  • Aluminum is lighter weight and more cost effective than copper
  • Copper offers corrosion and radiation resistance, soldering at termination, and higher conductivity relative to aluminum
  • Thicker film substrates provide higher conductivity and tensile strength, and lower signal attenuation
